Introducing: Traska Venturer

Over three years ago, we first talked to you about the then-new brand, Traska, and their new Freediver with a hands-on review. They’ve been busy in the years since, also releasing their Freediver and Summiteer watches. Well, just a few days ago, they announced their latest, the Traska Venturer.

This is Traska’s first foray into the world of a dual-crown watch, and they’re doing it in a way that we’re not used to seeing (except for Omega), in terms of the crown layout. You’ve got your main crown at 3 o’clock (used for winding and setting the Miyota 9019 movement), and then you’ve got the second crown over at 10 o’clock, used for setting the internal 12-hour bezel. While you’d more commonly use an internal bezel for timing, say, a dive, this is a simple way to track a second time zone on your watch.

In other words, the Traska Venture gives you dive watch looks, but it’s giving you a travel capability (if you’re wandering about more these days), or even just to track the time zones your servers are running in. You might be tempted to think that this dive watch-inspired piece would be a chonker, but it’s surprisingly not. It’s coming in at just 38.5mm, letting it fit on a variety of wrists, and it’s 10.5mm thick (excluding the crystal). Even the bracelet it comes on tapers from the 20mm lugs down to 16mm at the clasp, helping it cut down bulk and weight on the wrist.

The previous Traska models have proven popular, and I’ve no doubt that the Traska Venture will prove to be as well. This launch is a bit unique, as the brand is allowing people to reserve (read: pre-order) their watch for a 48-hour time period that starts on October 16, 2021 at 10 AM EST. At that time, you’ll be able to get the watch in one of four dial colors (white, black, blue, or our favorite, mint green) for a price of $585.
