Introducing the Oso Watch Orbit collection

Every time I think the bronze watch case fad is about to die out, something, well, just reels me back into it. A few weeks back we went hands-on with a cool, bronzed Yema Superman, and now, today, we’ve got a new brand launching with two models featuring bronze-tone cases, in the form of the Oso Watch Orbit collection.

You can tell, right off the bat, that the Oso Watch Orbit is rocking some serious vintage vibes. You’ve got that squared-off tonneau shape, into which we’ve got a bi-compax chronograph look. Well, more than a look, it’s actually a chronograph. The movement here, well, that is thoroughly modern. It’s the Seiko VK64, which is a mecha-quartz hybrid movement. I’ve played with these, and they’re fun. Basically, you’ve got quartz driving everything (and keeping it accurate), but when you interact with the chronograph pushers, you’ve got the solid click of a mechanical chronograph. Not only that, the central seconds hand snaps back, rather than needing to sweep all the way around when you reset it.

Another thing that the Oso Watch Orbit features – and that I am a super fan of – is an enamel dial. These I’ve encountered much less in my time reviewing watches, and they give a lovely depth and lustre to the dial that you might not really expect from a dial – but it’s there, and it’s a treat.

While I myself am not a big chronograph fan, even I can find a lot to like here with this watch. As I mentioned, the Oso Watch Orbit just launched on Kickstarter today, with three colorways available.
