I’m not sure if I’ve just not been paying close enough attention, or if this truly is a trend. By that I mean the sheer number of collaborations that we’ve been seeing in the watch world. Don’t get me wrong – it’s a way to expose a watch to other folks who might not be aware of the brand, while bringing in some fresh design ideas. The latest to hit the runway? This Skagen x Soulland collaboration.
You might be asking, who in the world is Soulland (I know I was). They’re a fashion brand that started up in 2002 in Copenhagen. So, you know, it makes sense they’d collaborate with Skagen then. For this, we get a new take on the Skagen Melbye, bringing us a moonphase for the first time in the line. They’re also coming with super-duper-inset day and month window (sign of a movement too small for it’s case) and day-of-month indication around the outer edge.
For this Skagen x Soulland collaboration, there are two main versions, one black, one silver. There’s also a super limited version (of only 13 pieces) that they’re making with an orange dial and leather strap (rather than the metal mesh of the main versions). The non-LE watches are just $165, and bring that Danish sense of style, here cranked up a bit by the Soulland infusion. Check out the production models (looks like the orange LE may have sold out already) over at Soulland or Skagen.
