Back in March of 2017 I did the review for this LIV Rebel Kickstarter, which you can see here. Their Kickstarter campaign was one of the most successful watch campaigns ever. LIV brought in over 1.7 million dollars which I must say is a bit more than their $30,000 goal. I have been anxiously awaiting the production of these watches so I could get my hands on one – and finally my day has come.  LIV watches was able to send me out the LIV Rebel A and I am loving what I see.

The Dial

The LIV Rebel A and all Rebel models truly stand out from the average watch. This is a simple three hander, but this watch as a whole is far from simple. This watch shows a lot of different elements being used to enhance the look on the dial. LIV watches uses a sandwich dial with a “guilloche” finish that adds a really nice touch to the dial. There is a lot of dimension on the dial that would make it very enjoyable to look at. Also with that very large sapphire crystal that great blue just make this watch visually jumps off the wrist.

The Case

All of the LIV Rebel models have the same case and man do they look good. The only differences on the case from the chronograph and the 3 handers is that the crown guards on the chronographs are the pushers, and on the three hander they are fixed guards. One thing that stands out right away is that this watch is unique: it’s not round and features an innovative, stadium-design face. Covering the dial is an eight sided sapphire crystal. The exhibition case back has a sapphire crystal and is mounted with four screws. All in all, the finishing is excellent on this watch. You can get this watch in matte black, grey, or gold. There are no sharp edges, and its so smooth all around that it actually feels like a smooth river rock in your hands. Water resistance is a respectable 100m which is just fine for out of water activities.

The Movement

Looking past that LIV logo, you can see the nice and reliable Sellita SW200-1; the rotor is signed with the LIV logo. This is hacking movement with a power reserve of 38 hours. I have this same movement in a couple of my watches and they have been trouble free.

The Strap

This LIV Rebel A came on a silicon strap. Strap is very soft and smooth and not a lint magnet like many I have tried; the clasp is a simple signed pin and buckle. There are other strap and bracelet options you can choose, but I do really like the sporty feel of the silcon strap.

LIV for the Lume!

Using BGW9 he lume on this LIV Rebel really looks good. Whats nice about the BGW9 lume is that in the light its pure white, but then has this nice blue/green glow in the dark. I really like the split lume on the hour and minute hands.

Overall Impression

LIV watches for sure did not let their backers down. This is a very nice time piece. Solid smooth case, curved sapphire crystal, Sellita SW200-1 movement, great looking dial. All this for only $440 USD during their pre order promotion. After that the retail price will jump up to $690 USD. If you want the gold finish, pre order will be $520 USD and $790 USD retail. This is one hell of a Swiss watch for that price. If you want one, go and check them out at livwatches.com.
