In the Glashütte Original catalog, there are a number of different directions you could go, in terms of style of watch. While they have some lovely big date options across various models, the Glashütte Original SeaQ offers a standard date window. And until now, it’s not been offered with an exhibition caseback.

Glashütte Original SeaQ: what it is

The Glashütte Original SeaQ is the quintessential dive watch aesthetic (we last covered it here). The brand views it as the spiritual successor to the Spezimatic RP TS 200, a professional dive watch that was made in East Germany for just a few years. Needless to say, the SeaQ is a bit more easy to find these days.

Here, it’s done up in a very wearable 39.5mm case that – even with the exhibition case back – maintains a 200m WR rating. The case is toped with a uni-directional bezel with a ceramic insert, color-coordinated to the sunray blue dial.

Inside that case (and through the case back), you’ll get a view of the Caliber 39-11 movement, which runs at 4 Hz and offers a 40-hour power reserve. With the new caseback, you’ll get a great view of the 3/4 plate that G.O. uses, as well as all of the other finishing they apply to their movements.

Wrapping things up

The watches from Glashütte Original definitely fall into the luxury category, and the Glashütte Original SeaQ is no exception. For this three-handed diver (with date), on a bracelet, you’re looking at $10,600 on the three-link bracelet. You can check it out, and make an appointment to see one, over at glashuette-original.com.
