You know us here at WWR – we like talking about the affordable watches that are out there. The stuff that Girard-Perregaux makes? That’s firmly in luxury watch territory. Still, nothing wrong with a flight of fancy here and there, right? There are a number of Girard-Perregaux Laureato models that have been released over the years, but the simpler 38mm version is what calls to me, particularly with these new dial colors.
Girard-Perregaux Laureato 38mm: what it is
Well, it’s a Girard-Perregaux Laureato, of course. That means you get their iconic octagon-on-a-circle bezel, wrapped around a dial with a Clous de Paris pattern (aka a tiny bumpy grid) that catches and plays with the light. Set over that geometric dial you’ve got applied (and lumed) indices, as well as sword hands.
The new dial colors here are midnight blue (my favorite) or sage green. The sage green does come with an additional pop of color, with the G-P logo and seconds hand done up in a gold-tone.
The movement inside
Even though it’s “just” a three-hander plus date design, the movement inside the Girard-Perregaux Laureato 38mm is certainly no slouch. It’s an automatic movement that has a pink-gold rotor helping keep things wound, visible through the caseback. The movement itself runs at 4 Hz, and should keep ticking for up to 46 hours once fully wound.
Wrapping things up
If you want to pick up one of these two new dial colors (or the prior colors), you can do that for $14,900. To get all of the details, check out the variants, and see where your local boutique is, head on over to girard-perregaux.com.
