Now, to be fair, this is not the first time that G-SHOCK has put a shiny metal coat onto their watches (for example, their GMS110). It does mark the first time they’ve applied the look to that GA700, which has had a lot of interesting variations, including this fully-lumed dial. So, let’s get familiar with the soon-to-be-released G-SHOCK GM700.

G-SHOCK GM700: what it is

As we mentioned up above, this design started as the ana-digi GA700. This means you’re starting with the multiple displays, which enable things like world time, daily alarms, stopwatch, countdown timer, and the like. You’re also still getting that legendary G-SHOCK toughness, which resists shocks and water (this case, it’s a 200m WR rating).

The newness

The big new thing, then, is the shiny finish that they’ve got applied to the outer case. This is a benefit of their layered construction that enables the shock resistance. With it, you’ve got all of these various components that be done in different colors, or in this case, have a metallic plating applied. Here, you’re getting the option of gold, silver, or what we believe will be quite popular, a deep purple-black tone.
