It’s a 40mm manual-wind chronograph that doesn’t try too hard to be anything other than a solid, good-looking timepiece with just enough vintage detail to make it stand out.
At 40mm wide and 14.1mm thick, the 1956 is right in the sweet spot for a vintage-inspired chrono. The ultra-domed sapphire crystal gives it that 1960s acrylic-crystal look while maintaining scratch resistance. The dial is clean and crisp, with well-proportioned subdials and a telemeter scale around the bezel, a detail that adds some old-school functionality. The Super-Luminova BGW9 lume is a nice touch, glowing blue in low light.
Inside is the Sellita SW510M BH b elaboré, a manually wound chronograph movement that runs at 28,800 vph (4Hz)with a 58-hour power reserve. It’s a solid, no-nonsense choice that ensures reliability without overcomplicating things. It’s a bit frustrating that it’s not automatic but I suppose we can’t all get what we want.
Obviously echo/neutra are limited by the movement to a certain layout but they definitely imbue this watch with a lot of classic styling without losing out on quality. Given its “classic” design, the 100-meter water resistance is a welcome addition, making this more than just a dress piece. It comes with two strap options, which helps versatility, and the 20mm lug width means swapping in your own straps won’t be an issue.
At €1,690 (USD 1,640), the echo/neutra 1956 White Chronograph sits in an interesting space—manual-wind chronographs with a vintage aesthetic aren’t easy to get at this price point, especially with Swiss construction. It’s well-built, thoughtfully designed, and a solid option for anyone looking for a no-frills, vintage-inspired chrono with modern specs.
