We’ve told you about a number of different watches from Ciga Design (you can see those here), and today we’ve got another one that’s up on Indiegogo at the moment. It’s also one we’ve got in for review, so be on the lookout for the full rundown later this month. For now, though, let’s see what the Ciga Design Z Hunter has in store for you.
Ciga Design Z Hunter: what it is
The Ciga Design Z Hunter is a skeletonized watch that focuses on showing off the movement driving things. Along with that, they’ve also come up with an interesting octagonal tonneau case that – while not as open as the movement is – seems to be fitting for the airy feel done.
Skeleton watches can sometimes suffer in terms of legibility, as you don’t have a dial that the handset can contrast against. To address that, the hands (which are also open-worked) have bright green paint applied, which helps them to stand out against the metal of the movement.
The movement
While it might feel like we’ve seen a number of skeleton movement watches from Ciga Design (because we have), this is actually a new movement for the brand. They’re calling this the CD-07 movement, which features a 40-hour power reserve. It also has an enlarged bridge and base plate (as compared to prior versions) which allows for more of the movement to be visible. This also lends to the mounting mechanism in each of the four corners, which becomes a design element while also providing stability.
Wrapping things up
The Ciga Design Z Hunter is being made available in three finishes (silver, carbon grey, or black), with color-matched bracelets (also stainless steel like the case) as standard; additional straps – either silicone or leather – can be added on as part of your backing. Earlybird pricing starts at $389 for the watch, with shipping anticipated for April 2025. The campaign is fully funded, and closes at the end of February.
