By now, we should all be very familiar with the Christopher Ward C60 lineup. It’s the very first watch I reviewed from them, and we’ve written about a number of the C60 Trident models since then. They’ve all had some tweaks and adjustments, and the latest is no different. If you’ve been waiting for the lume champ of the lineup, the Christopher Ward C60 Trident Lumiere has arrived.
C60 Trident Lumiere: what’s new
Let’s just start with what is going to be grabbing everyone’s attention with the C60 Trident Lumiere: the lume. While the bezel in-fill is the same painted-on lume that we’re used to, the hands and indices (and the CW logo) use a material we’ve only ever seen on the C1 Moonphase and one other brand: Globolight.
In essence, this is a ceramic material that is impregnated with Super Luminova. Given the massive surface area you have to absorb light (as compared to regular painted indices), you get glow that is unlike anything you’ve seen before. Pair that with the 3D shapes (we’re particularly taken by the hands on this watch), and you get quite the light show.
Not just pretty glow
The C60 Trident Lumiere is not just all for show – this is a watch that was built to be used. The Trident lineup are divers, and you have a 300m WR rating on the case (even with an exhibition caseback), which means you can definitely go for a swim. The Globolight will ensure you can read the dial in the depths, and the luminous dive bezel will help you track your dive time.
The 41mm case is made of titanium, so things are kept as light as they can be. On the bracelet (which has a nice built-in adjuster) it’s just 105g, and if you switch to the rubber strap, then it’s only 77g. Suffice to say, quite light for a 300m watch.
Finally, inside, you’ve got the Sellita SW300 COSC-grade movement ensuring you stay on time. The version they’ve used has the upgraded barrel, so it nets out a 56-hour power reserve. Why use this movement instead of the SW200? It’s 1mm thinner, allowing for a thinner watch.
Wrapping things up
While we’ve not seen the C60 Trident Lumiere in person, we’re confident that the Globolight dial will certainly delight and astound, and we’ve come to expect excellent fit and finish in the C60 lineup. If you want to pick one up, they’re available in three dial colors: blue, black, or orange. You can opt to get it on the bracelet ($2,390) or the rubber strap ($1,975), directly from christopherward.com
