Christoper Ward Watches: For Christopher Ward, moonphase watches have been a part of their lineup, albeit in a somewhat limited capacity. Today, a third one has entered the collection, set into an absolutely beautiful dial that send you off through space. Let your eyes feast upon the brand-new Christopher Ward C1 Moonphase.
Christoper Ward Watches: Christopher Ward C1 Moonphase
For the Christopher Ward C1 Moonphase, they’ve started with a Sellita SW200-1 movement, on top of which they’ve plugged the tried-and-true JJ04 module. So long as that movement is kept wound (it has a 38-hour power reserve) and the moonphase is set accurately to begin with, it will keep displaying the proper moonphase for 128 years.
Christopher Ward C1 Moonphase: Aesthetics
While that’s a technical achievement, where the Christopher Ward C1 Moonphase really sings for me is in the aesthetics. For starters, they’ve made the dial out of aventurine, which is a glass that is infused with copper oxide, giving you the appearance of pinpoint stars set into the nighttime sky. And that’s it, that’s the dial. No printing, no indice, nothing. Just a starfield into which that moon floats. And the moon? It’s made of Globolight, which is a luminious ceramic we’ve seen on some other watches to great effect. This means here, the moon glows white (not green) the dark, making for quite a lovely effect.
Christopher Ward C1 Moonphase: Price
If you want to put a Christopher Ward C1 Moonphase on your wrist, they start at $2,325 on a leather strap, or $2,475 on a bracelet. If you want a dress watch that takes things up a notch, this is a solid way to go. christopherward.com
