Taking inspiration from the luxury wooden runabouts found on the Italian Mediterranean, Spinnaker has made the Spinnaker Vessel. Real wood for the bezel and on the links were used to adds nice nautical touch. First off, I am not normally into wood watches, or quartz watches, or rose gold watches but after this arrived, I have to admit it looks pretty nice. Let’s take a look this Spinnaker Vessel rose gold and wood chronograph.
The Dial
The Spinnaker Vessel SP-5027-33 has a bright white face with rose gold hands, hour makers, and hour numbers. All the details are done in rose gold. There are your main hour, minute, and second hands all in rose gold. The hour and minute are filled with lume and put on a nice glow. There are three sub dials. There is a 24hr sub dial, chronograph seconds sub dial, and chronograph minutes sub dial. All the hands on the sub dials are also filled with lume. The lume on this dial has a nice glow, and its nice to see all the hour markers, hour numbers, and all the hands glowing. The wood bezel is, of course, what makes this watch special.
The Case
The case is nicely finished. The gold plating is very even and shows no imperfections. The finish on the wood bezel is very nice and you can see all the nice wood grain. The crown screws down and is signed with the Spinnaker sail. The chronograph pushers are very smooth and feel solid when pushed. Water resistance is 10Atm or 100 meters. That should be good enough for a day out on the boat.
The Bracelet
The bracelet on the Spinnaker Vessel really looks great. The gold plating is very well done and the finish on the wood is perfect. Since there is alot of wood used on this bracelet, the weight has been reduced on this but it still has a good solid feel to it. This has a good signed double locking clasp. Every link on this bracelet is removable with a mini screwdriver. This will fit any wrist, for sure.
Overall Impression
As I mentioned, I am not normally a fan of wood, rose gold, and quartz but I will say that this is very well made and the finishes are not what I would expect for a watch at this price. The dark wood pairs so well with the rose gold and the watch looks great but does not scream for attention.
