As through this world we ramble and through this world we roam we need a watch like…
Welcome to the very first entry in what we hope will be a new continuing series – Reader Reviews. That’s right, gentle reader – you too can submit a review. More details on that at the end – for now, let’s get on to see what Erik Sorensen-Braasch thought of the Benrus H-6.
Curved is the new blackout dial. Now that fashion and the nerd world has fallen in love…
It can be quite a treat to see a brand come along and then start to explore new avenues of design. One such of those brands would be Rossling & Co. We became aware of them early on in their kickstarted existence, and just recently they started up a new project, with a design that takes their previous design in a new direction. So, what does the new Rossling & Co Metropolitan collection have in store for you?
When you think about watches and shapes, a circle is probably the most common one you think of. Sure, you have your tonneau cases and the like, but by and large, our watches are circular in nature. Now, the just launched Meridiem Watches PM20 does indeed feature a round case – but it also plays around a lot with hexagons, and offers a unique material for their dials.

The Reverie watch company “had me at hello” with its sea-wave-inspired guilloché dial and cushion shaped case. The micro brand is offering mega value with its first watch that relies on classic design elements, a Japanese automatic movement and a thoughtful attention to detail. If you stop and think about it, watches really are an accessory. Yes, they are extremely useful accessories, but they are add-ons to what we wear, are they not? If we pull on that thread of reasoning, then, the topic of watches, and what watch you wear, is really an extension of what might be called Men’s Fashion, or Men’s Style. To that end, we here at WWR thought it would make sense to start taking a look at items from the world of Men’s style, hopefully in scenarios where it’s somehow related to the watch world. In this case, we had a perfect stop-off point for our first foray – Filson. They have been making watches with Shinola, which are largely an extension of the great product catalog they have built up. That means that, for our inaugural Men’s Style post, we will take a look at the Filson Short Cruiser.
I must really have a thing for trench watch-inspired watches, as another Kickstarter project just crossed my desk, and I rather liked what I saw. Then again, going with what seems to be a popular style (vintage military in a modern design) is a solid way to go, especially for a brand just starting out. With that in mind, let’s see what the McDowell Time Delray has on offer.
