How does that Hair Club for Men commercial go, “I’m not just the President, I am also a client.” Well, with Zelos, I am not just a blogger, I am an owner; when the Helmsman launched, I put my money down for the Bronze/brown with Serial #1. Now, Zelos Watches is back for their third launch on Kickstarter, the serious bronze diver, the Zelos Abyss.
Prometheus is a brand that produces nice looking serious dive watches at affordable price points. Through January 31, 2015, they have a pre-order opportunity for their newest dive watch, the Prometheus Poseidon. This is a serious (read overkill) automatic dive watch, water resistant to 3,500 meters with a helium escape valve and several other bells and whistles.
The last time we took a look at the Smith & Bradley Atlantis, we were spending time with the model that launched on Kickstarter. At the time we were looking at it, we were made aware of changes that were in the works for the production (ie, non-Kickstarter) version of the watch. Today, we will run through some of the changes and upgrades made to the Smith & Bradley Atlantis.
It seems to be that I am drawn in by classic designs, especially when they are well-executed in more compact packages. If you find yourself in the same boat, then the Archimede 1950’s is one you will want to sit up and take notice of.
We here at WWR have long been fans of what Benarus has been putting together. Much of the lineup is on the beefier side, as you would expect from a boutique-brand diver. The Moray has been prime evidence of this, having been made available in 47mm and 44mm variants. Now, for those of us looking for something a bit more compact, the Benarus Moray is now available – in the 42mm that we have seen in the past, as well as a 40mm variant.
Kickstarter is full of watch projects where the creators claim that they are trying to do something new, or they couldn’t find the watch they wanted so they made their own… To be honest, however, it is rare that these projects are actually really unique. They may be attractive and a good value, but rarely are they unique. Tempest just posted a project that certainly fits the unique bill though. The Tempest One Forged Carbon Watch is not only an attractive watch and a pretty good value, but it is going to be the envy of all your tech-loving friends.
The Titan Edge is by far the lightest and thinnest watch I have ever worn. It comes in at a price of $650.
One of the great things about being a watch reviewer is the fact that watch companies will give you the opportunity to wear their watches for a while, gather your thoughts about them, and then review them. The bad part about it is that you have to be ready to part with the watches when you are done. When I opened box for the Detroit Watch Company 1701 automatic, I knew that giving this watch back was going to be tough. This is my favorite watch which I have had the opportunity to review hands-on in my tenure here at WWR.
