Welcome back to our weekly installment, where we have a quick look at some interesting watches and articles that have popped up over the last week, as well as taking a second look at what some of our more popular articles this week were. Today we’ve got a look at a new world timer from Christoper Ward, an overview of some high-end watches celebrating the year of the horse, and then a look at a few of our most popular articles of the week.
Today, we’re going to take a look at a brand that likely everyone reading these pages is familiar with – Fossil. I’d hazard a guess that most of us have at one time or another had a Fossil watch in our collections, and for good reason – they’ve got a variety of different styles to accommodate just about any taste, and they come in at affordable price points. As of late, they’ve been expanding their offerings to encompass automatic movements, and we’ll be reviewing one of those models today.
The British watch industry really seems to have had a resurgence the last year or so, with a variety of smaller brands coming to the market. Of course, that means that brands needs to do something to separate themselves from the pack, and the folks over at Elliot Brown have focused on the robustness of their watch. For the price points you’ll find their watches coming in at, it is a surprising amount of punishment they put the pieces through.
Readers of this site will be familiar with the brand GasGasBones, as we reviewed their rather excellent nylon-and-velcro straps back in July of 2012. While they’re still turning out a variety of straps, they’ve expanded into other leather goods, as well as trying their hand at making a watch – the 6B MK1.

Welcome back to our weekly installment, where we have a quick look at some interesting watches and articles that have popped up over the last week, as well as taking a second look at what some of our more popular articles this week were. Today we’ve got a look at how computer tools are aiding watch design, a review of a rather nice-looking Hamilton, and then a look at a few of our most popular articles of the week.
Grieb & Benzinger isn’t a brand that makes it on these pages too often, but their latest creation is something that really caught my eye. Whatever the model is, they’re a brand known for skeletonizing and hand-engraving – which, when combined together with the skill they exhibit, makes for quite a stunning piece.
Void isn’t a brand we’ve written about much here, but their latest model caught my eye – and not for the reason you might expect. Up until now, they’ve focused only on creating quartz-driven watches. With the introduction of their V03M model, an automatic movement has entered the lineup.
Well, you can get your pizza Hawaiian style (disclaimer: I do not endorse this topping combination), but until now, you really couldn’t get your watch in that style. The folks over at SWAE watches are doing their utmost to rectify this oversight, and are looking to you to help Kickstart their project.
For anyone who spends any amount of time checking out the watch projects on the various crowd-funded sites, you’re not doubt familiar with the Lew & Huey brand, which started up in 2012. They just wrapped up funding one of their latest models, the Acionna, and they’ve sent over one of their prototypes for us to spend some time with. Read on to get our hands-on take on this new watch.
