Seems to be that, when we’re reviewing watches from CT Scuderia, we tend to hit them all…
When it comes to engines hitting redlines and tires spinning to gain traction, Italy is a country…
How do you create a brand identity in an industry as large and as old as watchmaking? Many brands have a go-to handset, some rely on logos, and yet others will use styling cues that carry over watch to watch. CT Scuderia is in that last camp, but they go further in their commitment that many others, with every watch in the line a bullhead style (though they do invert it for the Dashboard). The company was nice enough to lend me a second watch for a hands on review, the CT Scuderia Scrambler. The quartz chronograph is well made and pretty unique in the current marketplace.
OK, maybe not a car or plane per se, but the Dashboard Series of watches from the Italian brand CT Scuderia it is bit of mash up between the ground transport styling that defines the brand and the iconic styling of the Flieger B-style, all in an attractive and very masculine watch. CT Scuderia was nice enough to loan me one of their watches for a bit, and I really did not want to send it back to them. I opted for what I thought was a bolder look, the black IP case with the black and white dial.
Today, we’re welcoming another CT Scuderia model back to our pages, the Master Time. In our review of the Salt Flat Racer, I noted that the case, with it’s crown layout, evoked a stopwatch. The Master Time, by contrast, brings that association to the forefront, with the pushers flanking the crown up top, as well as a “lanyard loop” on the step of the crown. In some ways, it also puts me in mind of those early “trench” watches that were pocket watches with lugs soldered on so they could be put on a strap. Obviously, CT Scuderia has a much more polished offering for us than something with a strap hacked on to it.
Today, we’re crossing off another brand from the list of those that we’ve not covered on these pages – that brand is CT Scuderia. In an interesting mix of nationalities, we’ve got this Italian brand bringing us a watch that carries an American name – Salt Flat Racer.
