The Cabaro Watch is a crowdfunded timepiece from Australia. Their campaign ends on January 11, 2017. They are more than fully funded with over $73,000 taken in which is approx. $29,000 above their goal. So what is this company offering? They claim their watches are classic but unique, affordable but luxurious, and contemporary but timeless. You know, the usual.
Let’s take a look and see what they have to offer.
There are two models of Cabaro Watch, a quartz version and an automatic version. There are 5 case/dial variants to choose from and a selection of straps. All variants are available in either quartz or automatic.
The dial on this watch is very clean and minimal with roman numerals for the hours. This is 2 hand watch with a second hand sub dial. The case is made from surgical stainless steel and is offered in rose gold plating or in a stainless steel silver case. Dials come in charcoal black, egg-shell white, and midnight blue. I really like the look of the midnight blue in the steel case. The case size for the automatic is 42mm wide and 10.5mm thick. The quartz comes with the option of 42mm or 38mm in width with a thickness of only 6.8mm.
The dial is protected by a domed Sapphire crystal and the automatic version has a sapphire case back. Water resistance is rated at 5ATM or 50 meters.
One of the nice parts of this watch is the fact that the movements are Swiss. The automatic movement in this watch is the Sellita SW260 – Caliber I, running at 4 hertz or 28,000 BPH and power reserve of 38 hours. The quartz is a Rhonda Slimtech 1069 with a battery life of 25 months.
Based on what I see this is a classic looking watch with vintage elements that will keep a timeless look. Quality looks good and it’s just the right size. Although not a Swiss watch this really has a true Swiss heart
You can get the quartz version for a Kickstarter price of $219 USD. Retail on the quartz will be $429 USD. The automatic version is offered at $398 USD for Kickstarter backers, after that the retail will be $1058 USD. If you can get one before the campaign ends I feel you would be getting a pretty good deal on a nice looking watch with reliable Swiss movements. You can check them out onKickstarter.
