Fifty years ago, Apollo 15 went to the moon. With it, of course, there was a watch. No, not the watch you most commonly think of as the Moon Watch. It was a Bulova chronograph specifically to help track the stuff the astronauts needed. Earlier this month, Bulova introduced the Lunar Pilot Blood Moon.
Lunar Pilot Blood Moon: why that name?
A blood moon is a reference to the tint that the moon takes before it’s eclipsed by the sun. So, this establishes another shade with a moon watch. White or black, those are easy to understand, but now we can have red.
The watch
Aside from the dial color, the Bulova Lunar Pilot Blood Moon is very much the same Bulova Lunar Pilot that we’ve written about before. Even though you and I are not going to be heading into space anytime soon, you can still use all of the chronograph functionality here on terra firma.
Wrapping things up
As with last week’s Bulova watch (seen here), the Lunar Pilot Blood Moon has a quartz movement runing at 262 kHz, which makes it super precise. If you want to get one, they’re just $895, and it comes with both a bracelet and a strap. Check out the details, and order yours, at bulova.com
