What was merely a rumor swirling around watch forums and YouTube comment sections is now official: Patek Philippe is discontinuing the Ref. 57111A-010 Nautilus. I think I speak for everyone here at WristWatchReview in saying, “WHAT?!”

Cara Barrett over at Hodinkee was the first, I believe, to get official confirmation from Patek. She writes:

“[It] has been confirmed by Patek Philippe HQ directly that the blue-dial version of the Nautilus is, in fact, no más. While this may seem like pretty boring news, it’s not if you have been following the path of the luxury steel sport watch market, which has taken off in recent years.”

The effects of the discontinuation are already being felt on the secondary market, with prices for the 5711, which retailed for roughly $30,000, now shooting well past the $100,000 mark on sites like Chrono24. Several of the listings now openly reference the fact that the watch has been discontinued, too.

In other words, if you were hoping to flex on Instagram with a shiny new Nautilus, well, that just got a little trickier to do.
