Bell & Ross, known for crafting timepieces that blend high-end watchmaking with practical design, has launched the limited edition BR-X5 Racing. This watch, limited to 500 pieces, draws inspiration from motorsport, offering a combination of performance, precision, and modern aesthetics.

Design Rooted in Motorsport

The BR-X5 Racing features a design that mirrors the functionality and form of racing car dashboards. Its central seconds hand boasts a checkerboard pattern for precise time measurement, while the hour and minute hands, along with numerals, are coated in Super-LumiNova X1 for enhanced readability in low light. A red-tipped seconds hand adds a dynamic touch to the design, reflecting the energy of high-speed competition.

The construction of the watch is a testament to Bell & Ross’s commitment to functionality and durability. The case, made from a combination of carbon and titanium, offers both lightness and strength—qualities essential in motorsport where every gram matters. The “sandwich” case construction is secured by four titanium screws, ensuring the watch is robust enough to withstand the pressures of daily wear while maintaining comfort.

Precision Movement and Functionality

Inside the BR-X5 Racing is the in-house COSC-certified BR-CAL.323 automatic movement with a power reserve of up to 70 hours. The power reserve indicator, styled to resemble a fuel gauge, adds a nod to the automotive world.

The watch is also water-resistant up to 100 meters, making it suitable for everyday use beyond motorsport environments. Its sapphire crystal case-back offers a glimpse of the movement, a detail that appeals to those who appreciate the inner workings of a mechanical watch.

Materials and Build Quality

As with any high-performance tool, materials matter. The BR-X5 Racing uses titanium for its case and bezel, with the latter featuring a woven carbon fiber decoration. This choice of materials ensures a balance between strength, durability, and lightness. The strap, available in titanium or black rubber, offers versatility, whether you’re looking for a sleek metal finish or a more casual, sporty feel.

The watch measures 41mm in diameter and 12.80mm in thickness, providing a substantial wrist presence without being overly bulky. The micro-blasted titanium folding buckle ensures the strap remains securely fastened, adding another layer of practicality to the design.

Interested in landing the B&R plane and taking to the track? This watch will set you back about $10,800 on a rubber strap and $11,800 on a titanium bracelet.
