You know me – I’m a fan of the tritium-equipped watches that Ball creates, particularly within their Engineer line. The Ball Engineer III Invigorating Serpent should feel like a familiar watch, because it’s, well, the Ball Engineer III. That means you get the three-hander plus date capabilities, along with all of the usual Ball resistances. To make this version a little more special, they opted to use malachite for the dial, which definitely gives things a bit more of a unique feel.
To celebrate the Year of the Snake, they’ve gone with not a snake motif, but instead the Chinese character for snake. That’s the script appearing at the 6 o’clock position, and this is done up in SuperLuminova, complementing the SuperLuminova on the minute track, and of course the tritium tubes appearing in the hour markers and the handset.

I personally don’t tend to get to interested in the various “Year of the [insert creature here]” releases that most brands do, as I don’t feel the need to have whatever the animal is represented on my wrist. However, the Ball Engineer III Invigorating Serpent makes it a bit more unique, using a literal representation (the Chinese character) without smacking you in the face with a snake or snake patterns.
