As we’ve said in the past, there’s an awful lot of garbage that shows up on the crowd-funding sites for watches. Many of them are indistiguishable from one another, slapped together from a white label catalog. Then there are the rather unique campaigns, the ones that bring something different. That’s what the Artefkt Versa SC is doing.
Who is Artefkt?
Artefkt is a newer watch brand started up by Brandon Little, a designer who’s worked at brands like Zodiac, the Richemont Group, and even my own favorite, Shinola. Just as with Shinola, Artefkt is calling Detroit home, so you know that means I’m going to be predispoed to be on-board with what they’re producing.
What is the Artefkt Versa SC?
This is, of course, the introductory watch that they’re producing. Given that it’s setting a circular dial into a squared case, there are going to be inevitable comparisons to one of John’s favorite watch brands. And, sure, I can see that, so I’m thinking that this is one that was inspired by the iconic B&R.
Here, you’ve got a 36mm titanium case that houses that dial, as well as the Sellita SW200 movement, topped off by a sapphire crystal. What you’ll notice is that the case is actually a bit taller than it is wide. This is to enable their center lug setup, which comes complete with it’s own quick-change push-button. This does mean you’re constrained to their straps (and eventually a bracelet, though it looks like that stretch goal didn’t get hit), so you’ll have to see how that lug setup holds up over time.
Wrapping things up
The funding campaign for the Artefkt Versa SC actually wrapped up in November, but they’re still taking pledges for the watches, with delivery anticipated for June 2025. There are five different color variations, with pricing ranging from $1,450 – $1,650. You can learn more about the brand over at artefktseven.com, and pledge for a watch over at the campaign page.
UPDATE: We’re hearing that direct ordering on the artefktseven.com will be live later this month
