Another military edition – the Christopher Ward C60 Lympstone

Christopher Ward has definitely embraced expanding their watches into military designs. We actually brought you a hands-on review of one of their more vintage-oriented ones. If you prefer your military watches to be more modern – and approved by a military branch – then you’ll want to take note of the Christopher Ward C60 Lympstone.

At a glance, the Christopher Ward C60 Lympstone is identifiable as being part of the C60 lineup – you’ve got the recognizable handset and indices, and it definitely reads like a diver with the timing bezel and the dual-crown layout. And yeah, you could dive with it, given the 600m WR rating. But about those crowns…

Normally, dual-crowns would have you setting an internal timing bezel on a watch. Here, the Christopher Ward C60 Lympstone has it’s timing bezel external to the crystal. So that upper crown? It’s setting the internal compass bezel. I don’t know if it’s something I’d want to try and orienteer with, but I suppose it would work in a pinch.

And given that the Christopher Ward C60 Lympstone is officially approved by the Royal Marines (in other words, they can use it as a duty watch) that lends some credence to the utility. The watch overall presents as relatively stealthy, given the finish on the case and bezel, and the forged carbon used for the dial (view it as waves or camo, your choice).

If you’d like to add the modern take on a military-issue watch, you can pre-order the Christopher Ward C60 Lympstone directly from the brand for $1,145. christopherward.com
