Introducing the Defakto Vektor Orbit

Now, I know what you’re thinking – I’m trying to pull a fast one on you, right? Honest, I’m not! It just so happens that this watch looks a LOT like the Defakto Transit Standard, which we reviewed here. Trust me, they are different! Let’s talk about what makes the Defakto Vektor Orbit it’s own beast.

I’ll actually give you the TL;DR version right up front – as compared to the Transit, the Defakto Vektor Orbit has narrower indices, as well as a narrower handset. Past that, the watches are actually quite similar. They share the same case, even (and if you didn’t know, those Ickler-designed cases are top notch).

In fact, frankly, if you want to know what I think about this watch, just go over and read my Defakto Transit Standard review – the watches are so similar, it stands here as well. And really, I’ve enjoyed a vast majority of the watches I’ve had in that feature Ickler cases – they may be smaller runs, but they definitely know how to do things up right.

Pricing for the Defakto Vektor Orbit is a bit less than we saw on the Transit, but with exchange rates being what they are, well, it comes out to about the same price – $838 for us Yanks (and for everyone in the EU, you’ve got 890 EUR to save up to cover the additional VAT). While I prefer the wider hands and indices of the Transit, I think there is a clean elegance to the thinner options gone with here on the Defakto Vektor Orbit – and no doubt many will agree. Watch Overview

  • Brand & Model: Defakto Vektor Orbit
  • Price: $838
  • Who we think it might be for: You saw the Transit Standard, and liked it – except for the “maxi” hands and indices. If so, then this is the one for you
  • Would I buy one for myself based on what I’ve seen? In general, perhaps, but the Transit Standard takes the crown for me
  • What spoke to me the most about this watch: Much like the Transit Standard, it’s the clean-yet-fun dial and handset
