Catch a shooting Star with the Phoibos Eagle Ray Bronze Meteorite.

To date, I have been fortunate to have been able to review the Phoibos Ocean Master, the Sentinel, and the Great Wall. All were very nice, and well-made. Now Phoibos has come out with a new, fantastic looking watch. This one is the Phoibos Eagle Ray Bronze Meteorite. They were kind enough to send me one out to review and I – unsurprisingly – liked what I saw.

The Dial

Meteorite dials have been popping up a lot lately and now Phoibos has joined in. I have to say this blue meteorite dial just looks fantastic. The way the light reflects on it is mesmerizing. Aside from the great looking meteorite dial, the rest is simple but nice. As you can see from the photos, this is a three hander, with hour makers that are in good proportion to the dial. There is a small date window at the 6 o’clock position. The background on the date is black which helps it blend into the dial. Phoibos did very good at making that meteorite the highlight of the dial.

The Case

The case on this Phoibos Eagle Ray is made from CuSn8 bronze. Over time this will develop a patina which adds a lot of character to the watch. Measuring in at 41mm the size is in the Goldilocks realm for me – not too big, and not too small. The rotating bezel has angled, jagged teeth that makes rotation effortless, and looks cool too. The arge screw down crown also has the same angled teeth as the bezel, so gripping it is no issue. This case has a water resistance of 500 meters so if you wanted this as a diver, it could do the job.

The Straps

You get a good selection of straps with this Phoibos. The watch came with the black leather strap but also comes with a brown leather strap, and a black rubber strap. I love having strap options. Watch straps can completely change the look of a watch. This also comes with a changing tool so you can switch straps anytime you want.

The Lume

As with all of the other Phoibos models I have reviewed, the lume on this Eagle Ray looks fantastic. They use 15 layers of Super-Luminova C3 on the hands, hour makers, and bezel. That gives lots of lume with a glow that lasts.

Of all the Phoibos watches I have reviewed, this by far is my favorite. This looks good in the photos but even better in person. Whats great about the meteorite faces is that no two will be the same (and if you see identical ones, it’s time to ask some questions). If you are wanted a truly unique looking watch, I would recommend looking into this one. Not a bad deal for $520 USD. You can check it out at phoiboswatch.com.
