Introducing the Christopher Ward C60 Trident Bronze Ombré

I know, you’re saying to yourself, didn’t Christopher Ward give us (the watch world) a bronze watch earlier this year?  And yes, you’re right – you can check out that hands-on review right here .  What we have here is a variation of the variation, with the Christopher Ward C60 Trident Bronze Ombré.

I was very tempted to ask for one of these in for review, but given we just reviewed the bronze Trident recently, I thought we’d go another direction for the loaner (be on the lookout for that in the near future).  That said, this Christopher Ward C60 Trident Bronze Ombré is still a unique beast, and I like the direction it’s taken things.  For this 300-piece limited edition, CW has done something rather fun with the bronze dial.  Here, it’s been painted, and then it’s hand-scratched. That gives it that time-worn look, and of course, helps to ensure that no two dials are exactly the same.

The darker finish of the dial of the Christopher Ward C60 Trident Bronze Ombré is complemented by the black timing bezel, and sort of splits the difference between the color of the case and that bezel.  Of course, with the bronze case, you can expect that to darken a bit over time as well (unless you feel like polishing it).  To cap off the watch, you’ve also got some lovely straps in the mix.  These I think of a bomber jacket straps, as their coloration and crackling make them look like they were cut from a well-loved leather jacket.  All in all, it’s quite the nice look for the COSC-rated Sellita SW200 movement to call home.

As I mentioned up above, the Christopher Ward C60 Trident Bronze Ombré is a limited edition.  If you want to pick one up, they’re running at $1,135, and currently available now.  If you want a rundown of what the Christopher Ward C60 is like, we’ve got several reviews of the model, including the prior bronze one, and the full spec list is on down below.  Oh, and as I mentioned, we’ve got a few more CW review loaners in the works – if there’s a specific model you’d like us to dig into, sound off in the comments below, or over in our Slack channel.  christopherward.com

Watch Overview
  • Brand & Model: Christopher Ward C60 Trident Bronze Ombré
  • Price: $1,135
  • Who we think it might be for: You’ve been eyeing your bronze watch options over the past few years, and are ready to jump on the patina bandwagon
  • Would I buy one for myself based on what I’ve seen?  I do like the C60 lineup, and this looks lovely – it’s just not the one for me, if I were to buy one
  • If I could make one design suggestion, it would be: Working in some deep, dark green – perhaps on the strap or the bezel – could turn out nice
  • What spoke to me the most about this watch: Here, it’s the color palette – the darker dial and crackled strap just really make for a cohesive overall look
