Italian brand Anonimo, best known for their 4, 8, 12 index placement and trend-setting bronze cases have recently announced a new line. What makes this a particularly exciting announcement is the size of the new line. While the existing Militare and Nautilo lines both exceed 43mm and tend to present better on larger wrists, the new EPURATO case rings in at 42mm. Even more exciting is the cuff-friendly 11mm thickness.
The EPURATO shares its cushion-shaped case and 4, 8, 12 Arabic indices with its larger brother, the Militare. From there things start to look fresh and new. The dial is much more elegant than the sporty look of the Militare. The anthracite dial looks fantastic with the deep orange bronze of the downsized case. The fluted bezel just enhances the classy look of the piece, and the crown moves from the 12 o’clock position on the Militare to the more traditional 3 o’clock position, protected by a well integrated and subtle crown guard.
I’ve always been a fan of the Anonimo“A†formed by the indices at the 4, 8, and 12 o’clock positions. Not only is it unique, but it also opens up the space at 6 o’clock to dedicate to the date aperature. The Sellita SW200-1 movement, with its skeletonized rotor treated to Cotes de Geneve stripes is visible through a sapphire exhibition case back.
Finishing off the look is a mahogany brown Italian calf leather strap with bronze hardware. This first watch in the EPURATO lineup will be officially unveiled this week at Baselworld 2018 at a price of $3,185 USD. Anonimo is currently taking pre-orders on their website, and we’re working on getting one in for a full hands-on review soon, so watch this space. anonimo.com
