Parmigiani Fleurier is well known for unique complications – the extending and retracting hands on the Ovale being one example. In 2004 to celebrate their partnership with Bugatti, Parmigiani released the Bugatti Collection. These watches were something you’d expect out of an Urwerk or an MB&F, but were a bit off the beaten path for Parmigiani. Nonetheless, the collection has found success and continues to be offered to this day. The Bugatti Type 390 was designed to reflect the organic lines of Bugatti’s Chiron supercar released in 2016.

The movement of the Parmigiani Bugatti Type 390 is cylindrical. In other words, the twin barrels and gear train are all stacked horizontally along the top of the watch while a worm gear transmits power to the hands on the face of the dial below. While not totally unique, it’s interesting nonetheless.

To commemorate Bugatti’s release of the Bugatti Chiron Sport at the 2018 Geneva International Motor Show, Parmigiani is offering a customization program for the Bugatti Type 390. Clients will be able to select the material of the case and buckle, along with the type of leather strap and its stitching, the indices and hands, case side decorations, and finally the color of the sapphire crystals enclosing the movement. Pricing was not announced. parmigiani.com
