Elegantsis Watch Company is not a new company, but unless you live in Taiwan or it surroundings you may have never heard of them. The company is trying to change that with their new model which launched on Kickstarter on August 1, 2017. Elegantsis partnered with California based JKS Moto Co to create a new motorcycle inspired watch. JSK Moto Co makes some pretty bad ass custom racing bikes from crazy modern to classic café racers. The result of this collaboration is one pretty cool looking watch. Offering three Classic series models and two Rarity limited model there are some pretty cool versions to choose from. I was able to get a hold of the Rarity Omega version and so far I like what I see.
There is a lot going on with the dial on this Elegantsis JKS Moto Co series watch. Although this is a simple three hander, the dial has a lot of elements that keep this far from boring. The main element on this dial is the vented disk break look which looks great. The hour markers are a mix of lumed rectangular markers and at the 3, 8, and 10 o’clock positions are small polished hex nuts. Some love it or hate it, but I always like the large date window on watches. On this one, you can see the current date plus six more days in advance. Covering all of this is an anti-reflective coated sapphire crystal. There is so much going on with the dial that it keeps attracting my attention and with its large size is sure to attract the attention of others.
This Elegantsis JSK Moto Co series watch is large and bold and made to stand out on the wrist. The case is 47.5mm in diameter and is made from stainless steel. The screw down fuel cap looking crown is rather large but fits the watch well. The case back is screw down and has the look of chain gear. You can see the Swiss Sellita SW200-1 movement through the exhibition caseback. Well, you can try to see it, but the exhibition case back is covered with the JSK Moto Co. logo so it’s somewhat obscured. The logo is pretty cool, though.
Elegantsis chose to use a Swiss made Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement. This is a great movement and its nice to see a watch on Kickstarter using a Swiss Movement. Not that Seiko, Miyota, and other Asian movements are bad, its just that I am partial to Swiss automatic movements and you just don’t see that many on the Kickstarter watches.
I love the leather strap on this Elegantsis JSK Moto Co series watch. It is Italian made and vegetable tanned calfskin leather. It’s a pretty thick strap but is very soft and comfortable. The red and white color combination and feel of this strap seems like it was cut from a leather racing suit. There is also a black rubber strap included. Both straps have a standard pin and buckle signed clasp.
The Elegantsis JSKÂ Moto Co series watch has a lot going for it. Its large, flashy, manly, and well built. If you love motorcycles or just an all around gearhead you will enjoy a watch like this. Not to mention that if you get the one of the Rarity Collection watches you will get a free multi tool. Who doesn’t love tools? Prices on these watches start at $569 for the Classics Collection and $669 for the Rarity Collection. Retail will be $1010 for the Classics and $1180 for the Rarity. It’s a cool watch, Swiss movement, and a pretty good price for what you get. You can check the out on kickstarter.com.
