The Devil’s dive watch: Introducing a pair of limited edition Christopher Ward Tridents

I’m sure the trademark forked counterbalance on Christopher Ward’s dive watches is usually supposed to evoke Poseidon’s spear, but with the new C60 Trident Pro COSC and the C60 Trident Day Date COSC Limited Editions the bright red fork clearly belongs to a different supernatural being.

These demonic new colorways update the existing C60 COSCs. And while the new watches aren’t breaking any technical ground, I quite like the fresh white guilloche wave pattern dials with the red highlights on the lume pip and signature Trident seconds hand. I’m sinister that way, I guess.

The NATO strap is also a wicked upgrade, evoking the Omega SPECTRE 007’s grey stripe motif. CW’s standard rubber strap also comes with the NATO and their stainless bracelet is an option.

Colors aside, these watches share specs with the standard C60 COSCs. The chronometer-certified Sellita SW200 COSC movement in the date-only model and the chronometer-certified ETA 2836 in the day/date are great Swiss-made movements, tuned up to COSC standards. The cases are classic 43mm dive watches, waterproof to 600m, that look like they tick all the ISO boxes. Bezels are black shatter-proof Zirconia (Zr02) with full minute markers across the C60 COSC range.

These are seriously limited editions, with only 100 date-only Pro models out there and 200 of the day/date. Still not as rare as a fiddle of gold, but don’t sit idle too long. christopherward.com

  • Who are they for? Sun Devil Divers.
  • Would I wear them? I’d take either on that grey NATO all day long.
