It is the weekend, so it is time once again for our weekly feature, Watching the Web, where take a spin about the internet to look at some interesting watches or watch related news that we have found this week.  We also get a chance to highlight a few of our own articles that have been popular over the previous week (or so).  First up, we have an editorial that asks you to think about why you wear a watch, and then we have a review of a brand we have not looked at for a few years.  Then, of course, we will bring you the highlights of the week for our site.

Over at aBlogtoWatch, they had a very recent editorial (well, that’s what I’m calling it) that really gives you pause.  We get entrenched in the world of watches, and we know what we like, and we wear them because of a passion.  Or is it?  There certainly can be an element of showing off (that goes well and beyond the pride of a great acquisition).  Check out this writeup, and then think about why you wear a watch, and who you are wearing it for.

The last time we had Defakto on our pages (here), we focused in on a single hander.  Over at Worn & Wound, they have a rather lovely looking two-hander, the Akkord Modular.  The modular name is denoting a two-tone effect that they have done on the watches, with black balancing the bronze in the watch.  It is quite a sharp-looking piece – check out the full writeup (and all the pictures) right here.

Now, turning attention back to our own pages, we have a review that I am really not surprised to see that it generated a lot of interest – the Borealis Sea Hawk.  This is a very affordable diver, and it gives us some things that we have not seen before out of a micro brand (primarily the ceramic bezel and snowflake handset) at this price point.  This one is definitely a break from the norm, and worth a look if you looking to get a new dive watch.

Next up, Matt’s writeup of some holiday suggestions certainly has been getting your attention.  It is a nice overview in different categories and price points, and should allow you to find something for the watch lover you need a gift for.  And hey, if your doing some shopping, why not check out the WWR Holiday Store (right here) and help support the site with your shopping?

Szanto TrioLast but not least, you have just about a week or so to get in on our latest giveaway.  If you have not done so already, pop over to our monthly giveaway page and get your entries in to win one of the three Szanto watches Matt reviewed for the site.

With that, we’ll wrap things up. As always, if there’s something you think we should be covering, feel free to drop us a line. If you bring something up that we end up writing about, we’ll be sure to tip our hats (electronically, if not literally) in your general direction.
