It would seem that this recycled ocean plastic has created quite a boon for creating different things. I mean, there’s a lot of it out in the oceans, so getting it out and reusing it (so we’re not creating even more plastic) sounds like a good thing to us. It’s also allowing brands to expand out into other uses. We’ve of course seen watch brands making use of the material, but now we’ve got an eyeglass company jumping into it, with the Sea2see Seal.

To be fair (insert Letterkenny meme of your choice here), Sea2see has been making watches for some time now (it would appear) – it’s just that they’ve got a lot more eyewear options out there, so that looks to be where they started. For the Sea2see Seal watch – their latest – they took a fairly basic field watch design, and injected a good bit of color into it. The plastic cases (again, of the recycled ocean plastic) all appear to be in whatever color you want (so long as that color is black), but they’ve got a good mix of color options available in their dial options, which then also dictates what color strap (also made of recycled plastic) is paired onto the watch. You could go subtle and classic with olive, black, or blue, but our eyes are on the red/blue and orange/blue combos for a quick, but not overpowering, pop of color.

We also find it interesting that the Sea2see Seal is available in two case sizes – 37mm and 41mm. This means you can find a watch that fits your wrist (and sizing preferences), as well as come up with your own pairings if you want to have matching (or coordinating) watches with someone else. Powered by quartz movements, topped by sapphire crystals, and carrying a 100m WR rating, these are bound to be lightweight watches that should keep running for a good long time.

The Sea2See Seal is available for €179,00 / £159.99 (approximately $207), and a percentage of the sales of these watches go to some good causes. For one, each watch sold helps provide education to children rescued from slavery, as well as helping get more plastic removed from the oceans. Check out the watches, and read more about their charitable efforts, over at sea2see.org.
