Bell&Ross has just announced a new version of their BR-05 in steel and gold, a distinct departure from the company’s usually staid styling. This new model, called the Artline, features a unique mix of rose gold and steel that harkens back to a more civilized horological age.

The new BR 05 Artline Steel & Gold is rich in symbolism, blending architectural precision, versatile urban style, modernist industrial aesthetics, and aeronautical elements. The watch features a nicely skeletonized rotary weight and B&R’s traditional instrumentation design complete with steel screws holding down the gold bezel. It’s a looker.

From the release:

“With the Artline, we aimed to offer a watch that is adorned and elegant at the same time. Decorating its large surfaces (case and central links) allowed us to reveal the potential of the BR 05 through the prism of refinement, the precious and jewelry”, says Bruno Belamich, Creative Director at Bell & Ross. Another significant advantage is that by combining these two materials, a precious watch with parts in 18-carat rose gold becomes more accessible.

Distinctive Dial and High-Performance Movement

In this exclusive limited series of 99 pieces, the large numerals typical of Bell & Ross are replaced with baton indices coated with luminescent material, matching the hour and minute hands. The seconds hand, made of gold, complements the new dial’s exclusive color—a bright sunlit brown achieved through a specific manufacturing technique. This involves coating the metal plate of the dial with a tinted brown varnish.

Precision and Power

The BR 05 Artline Steel & Gold houses a precise and high-performing Swiss self-winding movement, the BRCAL. 321-1 calibre, boasting a power reserve of 54 hours. The 40mm watch is waterproof up to 100 meters, and its sapphire case back reveals the intricate finishes and the full 360° oscillating weight.

The bad news? This beauty costs a mere $12,800 and ships in July. You’ve really got to love B&R and gold to put this in your shopping cart. That said, if you like it it’s available for pre-order now.
