Video control panelWelcome to our regular Sunday feature, Watch Video Rewind, where we post watch related videos from the web to highlight interesting watches or interesting aspects of watch making.  We have a videos on a family investigation into an interesting Panerai, the making of an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar, and a very old musical repeater.

First up, we have a short film about a Panerai (made by Rolex, no less) that has been part of one family for decades, and they have finally uncovered some additional information about the watch and it’s provenance.  Video comes courtesy of Hodinkee.

Next, we have the making of an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar.  These are the sort of videos I rather like.  No, you won’t be building your own after watching this, but it does give you a concise taste of what goes into building one of these mini machines.

Finally, we have a 19th century musical pocket watch (and repeater).  Given how much of a fascination there is currently with musical mechanical watches these days, it’s interesting to see how this was accomplished over 200 years ago.

That’s it for this week’s watch video rewind.  If you stumble across any interesting watch (or time) related videos out there, drop us a line. If we end up using in the watch video rewind from your suggestion, we’ll be sure to tip our hats (electronically, if not literally) in your general direction.
